Ryan Still, his dog Moka, my dog Sammy and myself headed out on Sunday to find some powder. We found it! The touring was not too long nor cold. It was a great day in the backcountry, it was snowing and there was fresh powder all over the place.

This is a shot of me skiing down on of the open shoots we found with some great snow. The flume of powder behind me is Sammy barreling through the powder! It was hilarious.
The 2009 24-hours of Moab was a hoot. We decided to rent an RV this year, it was the best idea we have had in a long time. There were 5 of us, Warren, Gene, Eric, Ryan and I (with Sammy and Ryan’s dog Moka), between the 5 of us it was about $85 each excluding gas. Cheaper than a hotel.
We left Salt Lake City, UT. on Friday around 2pm and headed to Moab. Made a few pit stops of course, for some food and beverages. Even though I drove the whole way, who knew the Mickey’s top game could be so much fun. It was humorous to listen to the other 4 playing this game while having a few. Hilarious!
We decided to keep a person on the track at all times this year, we accomplished that and we all did at least one lap at night – we were all proud of each other for doing so. From start to finish, we gave it our best effort and that is all that can be asked. The night rides this year were exceptional, I was initially pissed that Gene was not up to relieve me after my 2am lap, but doing two laps in a row in the dark was a blast.
When we left Moab and headed back to Salt Lake City, we stayed in a Walmart parking lot. It ended up being a great night, drinking games and I witnessed the greatest comeback from someone that was pretty much asleep…way to go Ryan!!
Ryan Still, Gene Korby and I decided to take a trip this weekend, we wanted to be up in the mountains on the first good snow – we got more than we anticipated. It was a blast. On the walk in we had a hard time finding the yurt, ended up walking all around it. Gene was carrying a keg of Heineken and we had a few Modelo’s in our hand for the walk in. Ryan and I also brought our dogs, Moka (Ryan’s choco lab) and Sammy.
We had a blast, doing some spring cleaning on the yurt and having a few good laughs as well.
I was fortunate enough to play at the Club at Black Rock in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho (Rockford Bay), with my brother, father and Uncle Tom. My mom is the one that put this thing together and she decided that my Uncle Tom would enjoy this potentially once in a life time opportunity more than her. Thank you mom, it was a wonderful day – but I think you too would have enjoyed it just as much!
This course is ranked the #27 Best Course in America 2009 and the #1 Best New Course in America 2003. I now see why. The course is pristine in every possible aspect, it makes the CDA Resort look like a goat track! No kidding. It was pretty neat to see a Men’s Locker Room with a full bar and more TV’s than you can shake a stick at – pretty cool. There were many “stars” and “pro athlete” names on the plaques that have won tournaments out there, and they live out there. My brother was fortunate enough to play with Rich Beem (PGA Bio) out there two years ago and could not say enough about the course.
It was a great day, only made better by having dinner with my mom out at the course. Thank you for setting it up mom, it was wonderful!!!
My brother, Chris and I went for a ride Saturday morning in the mountains around Hailey. A great 4 hour ride with a lot of ground covered. It was a great weekend with Rob and my dad, surrounded with motorcycles, golf clubs and a beer or two…
